La Argentina se encuentra en la parte meridional del continente sudamericano. Limita al oeste con Chile, al norte con Bolivia y Paraguay, al este con Brasil, Uruguay y el oceano Atlantico y al sur con Chile y el oceano Atlantico. Su poblacion ronda los 39 millones de habitantes. Su idioma en todo el territorio es el español.
El nombre de Argentina proviene de "argento" o sea plata. Deriva de las famosas tierras "del Rey Blanco" de los colonizadores, tal vez por referencia al Imperio Incaico. Por primera vez fue usado en 1602 por el poeta Martin del Barco Centenera, en el poema publicado en Lisboa "Argentina y Conquista del Rio de la Plata". Recien el nombre se oficializa con la Constitucion de 1826.
