Origen de su nombre:

Magallanes, en su expedicion de 1520, denomino "patagones " a los habitantes de esta region, tomando el nombre de un personaje fantastico de la novela "Primaleon" que, entre otras hazañas, captura en el relato al "gigante patagon".
