Villa turistica a orillas del Lago Argentino, toma su nombre del arbusto calafate de hojas pequeñas, espinoso, que florece de amarillo en primavera y da frutos muy dulces que tiñen de morado la lengua. Segun dice el saber popular, "quien come calafate, vuelve por mas". Pueden visitarse el Glaciar Perito Moreno y el Upsala, entre otros. Se puede practicar minitrekking sobre el Perito Moreno.
